USDA Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Compass

On Wednesday, February 29, Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Kathleen Merrigan announced the new online Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Compass. According to the USDA's blog: " . . . the Compass showcases USDA's Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Initiative. The Initiative was launched in 2009 to coordinate the work of USDA's 17 agencies and many staff offices that invest in local and regional food systems."

Virtual Conversation from the White House via Twitter - Monday, March 5

Deputy Secretary Merrigan has invited representatives of the local food and farming community to join her in a Virtual Conversation from the White House via Twitter on Monday, March 5. Representatives from our local farming community, including Future Harvest CASA staff and members Dru Peters of Sunnyside Farm and Nick Maravell of Nick's Organic Farm will be at the White House event. Anyone who would like to participate via Twitter is also encouraged to chime in.

The voices of farmers and food producers are especially needed. Either join the Twitter conversation or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
