New Funding Opportunities for Small/Urban Farms Just Announced!
There are some really exciting, brand new opportunities for small/urban farms in our area to receive financing, and I wanted to make sure you'd seen them!
- Marbidco has just announced a new Urban Agriculture Commercial Lending Incentive Grant Program. The program offers grants of $1,000 to $7,500 to supplement commercial loans in order to encourage urban farmers to access private lending when they might otherwise not feel able or secure enough to do so. . Marbidco is a quasi-public agency set up by teh state, and its mission is to make our agriculture sector sustainable and profitable.
- MidAtlantic Farm Credit has just announced a new loan program for beginning farmers. MAFC is part of the nationwide Farm Credit Network of customer-owned lending institutions.
- The Farm Service Agency of the USDA has a new microloan program with a simplified application process. It's designed for farmers who have some experience adn don't have major financial or credit problems, but who don't otherwise have access to commercial loans. Crops can count as your security instead of other assets.
