Ira helped to found Acorn Community, the home of Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, where she still lives and works on building a cooperative and sustainable organic food system for the Southeast. Ira is the author of The Timber Press Guide to Vegetable Gardening in the Southeast or co-founder of the Heritage Harvest Festival at Monticello. She also serves on the board of the Organic Seed Alliance, Open Source Seed Initiative and the Virginia Association for Biological Farming.
