Garden Coach Position in Baltimore

General:
Are you an experienced organic farmer or gardener? Do you enjoy sharing your passion for growing food in urban and suburban environments with others? Want to work with a team of passionate and knowledgeable foodscapers, permaculturists and organic farmers?

-Flexible hours- pt or full time depending on skill set and availability.

Qualifications:
-Must have at least two full seasons of growing experience in the MidAtlantic
-Must enjoy connecting with people and talking about gardening
-Must have reliable personal vehicle (we reimburse at .57/mile)
-Must be able to independently load vehicle with garden tools and materials including sacks that weight up to 50 lbs

1. Meet Edible Eden’s customers in their food gardens all over the Baltimore area and deliver 1.5 hour garden coach sessions

a. Guide new and inexperienced gardeners in the flow of the MidAtlantic growing sea-son,
b. Teach them how to:
i. Plant seeds, seedlings, tubers etc as seasonally relevant
ii. Coordinate succession plantings and crop family rotations
iii. Side-dress and apply foliar fertilization, trace minerals, and relevant nutrients
iv. Prune, trellis, mulch, harvest and in all other ways operate raised bed and in-ground vegetable gardens for maximum production, aesthetics and sustainabil-ity.
v. Strategically use Organic pest treatments

2. Communications and Development
a. Help streamline and grow the Garden coach program
i. Develop curriculum documents and handouts for Garden Coach program
ii. Develop online coaching opportunities, new educational programs and work-shops
iii. Keep records of materials used and time spent
