Level 1 Hands-on Days
Interactive group field trips to diverse sustainable
farms throughout the region
Since so much of farming can only really be learned in the field, these Level 1 hands-on days have been designed to augment and bring to life concepts that trainees learn through their classroom work. These half-day trips are designed to introduce Level 1 trainees to diverse farm operations and practical, hands-on farm skills. Trainees will engage in projects such as: helping to build season extension structures, working with livestock, learning bed preparation fundamentals, etc.
We offer 8 of these hands-on days throughout the season: 4 in the Central Chesapeake region and 4 on the Delmarva Peninsula. Level 1 trainees are required to attend at least 4.
