"As a Publisher of investing and health publications with hundreds of thousands of readers around the world - I'm often learning about companies and individuals who are making a difference in sustainable agriculture (publishing articles by Joel Salatin, for one).  But I get most inspired when I come across a group using a unique approach that results in helping people learn and forge a new livelihood --especially one that also helps our environment. For these reasons and more, I am proud to be a long-time supporter of the Tipper-Gurley Fund. The generous experts behind this Fund are completely dedicated to supporting and working with new farmers in their Beginner Farmer Training Program, now in its 11th of existence, with over 330 graduates.  And I applaud their mandate to give access and support more minorities who want to be farmers."

      - Julia Cooke Guth, CEO & Publisher, The Oxford Club, and Chairperson, The Roberto Clemente Health Clinic and Wellness Center.

"I give to the TGF because without farmers and farms we cannot have local fresh food. Farming is extremely hard work, real estate prices are very high in the area and climate change is making growing even harder. Think global, act local: Buy local, buy organic and support future farmers!

      - Deirdre Smith

Gifts from an IRA - Donors who are age 70 ½ can make a tax-free Qualified Charitable Distribution directly from their IRA for up to $100,000, completely bypassing the above income limitation, and still taking the full standard deduction. The contribution isn’t eligible to be included in itemized deductions but it is excluded from income. Even better, the distribution counts toward the donor’s Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from an IRA for people age 70 ½.
