About The Common Grain Alliance (CGA)
The Common Grain Alliance (CGA) is a nonprofit established in 2018 working to elevate regional grain and grain producers in the Mid-Atlantic. We envision an interlocking web of short farm-to-table grain value chains rooted in cultural foodways and serving all people equitably. To get there, we have started by connecting small- to midsize grain farmers with millers, bakers, brewers, and other producers, developing and distributing educational resources, and most recently, streamlining logistics. These steps are just part of our strategic plan to strengthen the non-commodity grain value chain and create a viable and equitable market for regional grain products. At this stage, we have outgrown our volunteer leadership team and are looking for the right person to take us closer to our vision.

Executive Director Position
We are seeking a passionate, self-motivated individual to lead the organization as part-time Executive Director. This person will report to the Board of Directors and work with our part-time Social Media Manager and Project Administrator to direct, execute, and coordinate our programs, operations, and communications, and assist with development and fundraising.
The CGA Executive Director will do the following.
Communicate with our members, partners, and community to raise the the organization’s visibility by monitoring email, coordinating with staff on public-facing communications, and maintaining relationships with donors and partner organizations
Build new relationships, especially with BIPOC and other underrepresented communities, in ways that advance racial equity and bring together diverse voices
Administrate the organization by assisting with reporting, surveying, data tracking, and other tasks
Represent CGA at events organized by CGA and partner organizations; moderate discussions at those events
Commitment to CGA’s mission and to social justice and food equity
Able to travel within the CGA membership area
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Google Docs and Zoom facilitation
Well-organized, flexible, independent, and collaborative
Able to give and receive constructive feedback, ask clarifying questions, and take responsibility
Experience working with grain
Experience working in social justice, food equity, race policy, and their intersections
The part-time Director will work on a one-year contract with a target start date of April 15, 2021. The Director can expect to work in the range of 15 to 25 hours/week at a rate of $25/hour.
This position is remote, but the Executive Director must reside within the CGA region, which includes Maryland, Delaware, DC, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
